345 Words About Why Blogging Will Never Die

This week, one of my favorite bloggers announced that she will be taking a break from blogging in order to re-evaluate’s its role in her life. This sent a panic out to her readers, who fear that after a break, she will not return to the blogosphere.

But here’s what I think: blogging will never die.

No matter how many breaks we take and no matter how many people doubt its relevance, there is a power of connection found in blogging that can’t be replicated on any other social media forum.

When I first started blogging, I just wanted to wanted to share my story. I wanted to write it down so that years later, I would have reminders of the small and large moments. Years later, I still blog for the same reason. I write to remember. Sifting through old posts I recall moments I had otherwise forgotten, I get advice from myself on tasks I had forgotten I preformed and I watch myself grow from post to post.

I read blogs for two main reasons: the first, to disappear from myself for a brief moment in time, and the second, to learn.

It is the second reason, our drive to learn, that crosses every field of work and type of personality. From educational blogs to fashion blogs, on to technology blogs and personal blogs, we sign on to read with a vigor to better ourselves, to learn more, to discover. And that vigor is so deeply imbedded in our DNA that it will never cease. Blogs have a fulfilling property.

We write to remember our stories.
We read to appreciate others.

And no matter what we do, we cannot replace the feelings that reading our favorite blogs give us.
This is why so many people throw their hands up in outrage when their favorite blogger takes a break.
This is why scanning through our own blogs is so nostalgic.
This is why we sign on day after day.

And this irreplaceable feeling, it is exactly why blogging will never die.
